Audit-trail In order to maintain the CDR as a medico-legally acceptable archive, ICE™ automatically logs any instance of patient data creation, update, "deletion" or view down to the single data field. The log includes a time stamp, full user details, and full access location details. Patient data update / "deletion" always begins with flagging the original record as logically "deleted" before enabling any data alteration. |
Security & confidentiality ICE™ provides a robust security model and security configuration tools, enabling data access compartmentalization on a "need-to-know" basis. The healthcare enterprise has the freedom and flexibility to implement virtually any security policy in order to comply with evolving Federal regulations and policies. |
Customization Nearly every aspect of ICE™ content and behavior is open for multilevel customization by authorized users and IT professionals. The system supports a personal version of the entire system for each user without involving programmers. All content displayed within ICE™ is defined within the database and can be made available in multiple languages. |
System integration ICE™ can be configured to receive and/or transmit messages from/to any other installed systems capable of communicating in industry standard HL7 (Health Level Seven) protocols, thereby leveraging past investments in legacy systems, with automatic conversion of legacy data into a common enterprise vocabulary. |
Scalability The SQL Server database engine is a robust server that can manage terabyte-sized databases accessed by thousands of users. Additionally, when running at its default settings, it has features such as dynamic self-tuning that let it work effectively on laptops and desktops without burdening users with administrative tasks. SQL Server can maintain the extremely high levels of availability required by large enterprise systems. |
Availability Log shipping can be employed to feed transaction logs from the production server to a warm standby server at set intervals. By restoring the logs on the standby, you create a server that can replace the production server in case of a problem. Log shipping can also be used to copy data from a production server to one or more read-only reporting servers, reducing load and traffic on a production server. |
Survivability Running under industry standard SQL Server, the ICE™ environment can be configured to support failover clustering, thereby minimizing system downtime, and providing high server availability. In addition, the use of simultaneous multiple backup/restore devices, database, differential, file, file group, and transaction log backup methods increase the speed of backup and restore operations while minimizing the effect on users. |
Administration & Maintenance ICE™ requires no scheduled / periodic maintenance or downtime. In addition, administration tools enable centralized and remote-access control to all system components in the physically distributed enterprise locations. |
